About Siena Francis House Miracles Addiction Treatment and Recovery Program
Siena Francis House is an organization in Omaha, Nebraska, that provides services to clients experiencing homelessness. One of the programs is the Miracles Addiction Treatment & Recovery Program. This is a CARF-accredited residential treatment program licensed by the State of Nebraska. The program is free for unhoused clients or those at risk of losing their housing due to substance use disorder.
The program facility is less than a mile from downtown’s walkable district. It’s also convenient to Interstate 480.
Addiction Program for Unhoused Clients
This is a unique program because it’s free to unhoused or at-risk individuals 19 and older who are in need of treatment. The organization’s goal is to break the cycle of homelessness, and treating substance use disorder (SUD) works toward that goal.
Low-income individuals who are experiencing SUD and homelessness, as well as mental health disorders and/or judicial involvement, may apply for treatment on their own. Clients are also referred from local agencies such as corrections agencies.
Case managers assist clients as they progress through the program. They help link clients to services such as legal assistance, dental care and locating essential documents such as birth certificates.
Trauma-Informed 12 Step Approach
The team encourages 12 Step involvement and takes a holistic, trauma-informed approach to treatment. Some of the priorities include a willingness for clients to look inward, honesty, and acceptance. They emphasize that moving through treatment requires a team effort and team perspective for continued recovery.
Clients begin with a comprehensive assessment for the staff to develop an informed treatment plan. All clients participate in individual and group therapy. Depending on the circumstances, some clients also go to classes such as anger management, grief recovery, co-occurring mental health treatment, addressing dysfunctional beliefs and mindfulness.
Vocational and Service Opportunities
While in the program, clients engage in vocational counseling. They’re given assignments and service opportunities that help the organization.
Assignments include housekeeping, clothing distribution, food services, donation pickup and deliveries and grounds maintenance. Assignments help clients learn valuable vocational skills for finding and sustaining employment after completing treatment.
