About Pathways Residential Treatment Center
Pathways Residential Treatment Center is a part of the Centra healthcare system in Lynchburg, Virginia. This department is located within Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital. It provides residential and intensive outpatient addiction treatment for adults. Treatment is person-centered and includes acudetox and medication assisted therapy (MAT).
Group Therapy as the Primary Mode of Treatment
Pathways uses group therapy as their primary mode of treatment during residential treatment. Residents are required to attend groups each day and complete recreational activities. An example of a residential day schedule may include a reading group in the morning, group activities, lunch, therapy groups, community meeting, dinner, and 12 Step meetings before bed.
It’s important to note that there’s no detox-only program option, but detox is a part of the residential program. Suboxone is used to assist with uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms and to manage drug cravings. This program is best for people who need the more intensive level of care.
Rediscover Things You Enjoy

At Pathways, you and your therapist create an individualized treatment plan with personal goals that adhere to your recovery journey. Sessions may cover topics like developing new coping skills, improving overall health and wellness, and finding a balance between acceptance and change. Pathways helps you define things that add meaning to your life like yoga, art, and exercise.
The intensive outpatient program meets during the day for three hours per day, three days per week. The IOP usually lasts for six to eight weeks.
