About GHR Center for Addiction Recovery and Treatment
The GHR Center for Addiction Recovery and Treatment in Norfolk, Virginia offers substance use treatment for adults. They accept Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and other insurances. Treatment is completely free for clients who are Medicaid recipients, receive Optima Health/Family Care, or have Anthem Healthkeepers Plus.
Assessment and Referrals for Substance Use Disorder
A client will begin the process with a Screening Behavioral Intervention to determine the treatment needed. A referral may be made to a different location if inpatient or partial hospitalization is needed.
Levels of Treatment and Services Offered at GHR
Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) is needed by clients who do not require more intensive treatment such as residential or partial hospitalization. IOP treats clients with alcohol and other addictions. The program also treats substance use with co-occurring mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and anger issues.
Depending on the client, IOP has a duration of nine to 19 hours. The minimum attendance required per week is three hours, on three different days. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available to reduce withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and to manage co-occurring mental health disorders.
Individual, group, and family therapy is offered. Specialty groups available include ones that focus on anger and stress management, trauma, depression, men’s/women’s issues, mindfulness, and expressive therapy.
Outpatient Care for Addiction
After IOP treatment is completed, clients are transitioned to the Office Based Treatment (OBOT)/Outpatient Treatment Program (OTP). This program continues to manage medications and offers one hour group sessions per week.
Specialty groups are still available with this treatment and you’ll also have access to addiction process groups, educational sessions, and relapse prevention training. Individual and family therapy is still integrated into the client’s treatment. Aftercare is available for sobriety support with all programs and therapies available in OBOT/OTP.
