About CASA Project Courage
The Chemical Abuse Services Agency (CASA) in Bridgeport, Connecticut approaches outpatient addiction treatment with a perspective on cultural, environmental, socioeconomic, and political factors that affect their clients. They are CARF accredited and are an HRSA National Health Service Corps Site.
CASA accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and other insurances. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, a sliding scale payment policy may be available.
Outpatient Treatment Services on Kossuth Street
While CASA has several different programs including residential and outpatient rehab, this Kossuth Street location offers Project Courage, an outpatient program for adults including pregnant or parenting women. The staff consists of bilingual and bicultural clinicians who specialize in dual diagnosis and substance use disorders. The program offers therapy, psychiatric services, medication assistance, auricular acupuncture, counseling, STD testing, and relapse prevention groups.
Medication assisted treatment is available here too for clients who have been verified as using opiates. Medications prescribed include methadone and buprenorphine. Clients receiving medication will be assigned a recovery coach.
A Full Continuum of Care at Other CASA Locations
This particular location is specialized for Project Courage but CASA has numerous other programs and levels of care at their other facilities. This includes residential treatment for Spanish speaking clients. Casa Hostos offers intensive residential and intermediate residential care for Spanish speaking men and women with substance use disorder. This program lasts one to six months.
Residential treatment for Spanish and English speaking men is available at the Noble House, an 18 month congregate living program. Meanwhile, the CASA Recovery House is a transitional residence for Spanish and English speaking men with a stay of three months.
Proyecto Nueva Vida is an outpatient program for Spanish speaking men and women who are in poverty, unemployed, or underemployed and have a criminal background. Services provided include addressing the impact of institutionalization.
They have outpatient day treatment and intensive outpatient programs too, as well as permanent housing and supportive housing for people who are homeless. Clients can obtain a referral for these additional services through the Kossuth Street location.
Clients have expressed the helpfulness of transportation and childcare being provided. Meditation and being able to express feelings and talk about recent events during group sessions are helpful for clients.
