About ALR Soberlife Bessemer
ALR (Any Length Resources) Soberlife Bessemer has been helping folks overcome addiction since 1999. They offer a 12 Step focused, sober living environment with multiple locations, including this one in Bessemer, Alabama. They offer safe and supportive recovery communities for men and women who wish to work toward healthy living.
Supportive Sober Living in Bessemer
I like that ALR places a strong emphasis on helping residents develop goals to support a substance-free lifestyle. They help residents gain employment or education skills, improve communication and relationship skills, learn how to be financially responsible and increase their self-reliance and self-trust.
Their programs use abstinence as the foundation for the healing journey. To be eligible for this program, prospective residents must be 19 or older and have completed primary substance use treatment. They must be able to function in a community setting and be medically stable. Folks must not have a history of violence and must be willing to seek employment and follow discharge plans.
Residents live in individual apartment units where they have some independence yet are still safely monitored to ensure success. I appreciate that apartments are staffed 24/7 and that each unit is inspected nine times a day. Each night at curfew, a staff member will lay eyes on each resident to ensure everyone is accounted for.
Phased Addiction Recovery for Alabama Adults
ALS SoberLife uses a phased system to help residents progress through four stages of growth and responsibility. The first stage is all about orientation and relies on a lot of supervised structure. Generally, this phase is six weeks. In phase two, which is also six weeks, residents work on the 12 Steps, begin to offer service and develop fellowship with their sober community members.
Phase three can last 12 weeks and is a time for active leadership and relationship building as well as continued service. Finally, in phase four, residents take their time to begin to transition to independent recovery within a supportive framework.
